Samsung pushing 1Gb DRAM for mainstream use 
Samsung Electronics Co. is ramping up its production of 1Gb DRAM (Dynamic-RAM) chips to help them become the industry's mainstream computer memory chip as soon as possible, the company said Thursday.

Using the power of IBM's eServer Blue Gene supercomputer, IBM and The Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland will build a digital model of the brain. Using the digital model scientists in the Blue Brain Project will run computer-based simulations of the brain at the molecular level, examining such internal processes as thought, perception and memory.
