[SMM] 2020 Hindsight on Y2K view rss file
Looking back at Y2K it may seem that excessive effort was expended on what seemed to be a non-event. It took attention away from a much more profound change as M2K opened, the Internet Millennium. Very significant effort is required from companies and organizations if they are to survive and perform well in this new M2K.

Back into the swing view rss file
I'm happy to report the "Mayan Riviera" is an excellent place to spend a week away from the search marketing business. Despite a little difficulty getting out of Mexico and lost luggage, it was an excellent trip with a minimum of Internet usage and lots of relaxation. Thank you to Thomas who has, as always, done an excellent job filling in with timely and informative blog posts regarding search engine marketing and blogs. Be sure to check out his newest blog project, SEO Blog Marketing.

Use Your Head view rss file

You have to learn to think for yourself if you're going to make it in the Internet business world...

Here's one good example:
It seems like everyone who owns a website has jumped on the "drive more traffic to your sites with this blog spamming tool" bandwagon.  There are dozens of these tools, and more are being released every week.

Here's a clue - this trick used to work a year and a half ago, and now that everyone has finally heard about it and started doing it the search engines have caught on.  Guess what - it doesn't work anymore!

Use your head when it comes to stuff like this -- if the software or technique is so great, why is it being released to the public?  If the technique works so well, it would be kept hidden so that the flow of profits would keep coming.  It's only when the effectiveness starts to fade or stops completely that the "marketing sheep" are "let in on the secret".  Remember this the next time you see "an amazing new product."

The SEO Industry Cathing Up on RSS? view rss file

With RSS getting more and more coverage, ”traditional” internet marketing industries start branching out in to it. The SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) industry was quite early to catch on, but only in some limited and highly early adopter circles.
